“Long Exposures & Seascapes”
With the use of a 10-stop or circular polarizer filter attached to my lens, I endeavour to capture the natural world in a way I enjoy.
This technique is called long exposure. It requires an element of skill to calculate the time the shutter is open and also composition. I do not focus stack or stitch my photos together, something I may or may not do one day.
At the moment I want to spend less time at my computer and more time with my camera.
The world we live in is beautiful and the last thing I want to do is alter an image I would rather not take the shot!
So it’s all about composition, camera skill and the natural world.
It’s called the integrity of the image, let the image tell the story.
The sea and me
Water is considered the elixir and source of life. Because it covers more than 70% of the Earth’s surface, makes up nearly 70% of our bodies, and constitutes over 70% of our hearts and brains.
Being a true Aquarius I love being near the sea (not in it) I have nearly always lived near the sea which isn’t hard in New Zealand. My first love is a lake, the smell and texture of the shore is home to me, as a child I spent many holidays camped beside a lake. Endless days and warm summer nights, falling asleep to the frogs singing in the lagoon nearby. I always try and take photos that show that serenity, the feeling of place and time.
I respect the ocean and its many forms, from vast gold sands to rocky shores, storms, sunrises, sunsets all begin and end at the sea – for me.
